Norman and Irma Braman will be funding the new Institute of Contemporary Art which will be located within Miami's Design District in a 37,000 square foot museum building with a 15,000 square foot sculpture garden.
The museums property is being donated by Miami Design District Associates, a partnership by Dacra's Craig Robins and L Real Estate. Aranguren & Gallegos Arquitectos of Madrid will be bringing their talents to the United States for the first time.
"Our strategy for the Design District is that we want it to be equally a place for culture as for commerce. By collaborating with the Bramans and the incredible board behind ICA, that gave us the perfect opportunity," Robins said to the Miami Herald.
The creation of ICA Miami emerged due to the split earlier in the year between the former board of the Museum of Contemporary Art, co-chaired by Irma Braman and the city of North Miami. The ICA Miami Museum currently resides in the Moore Building at 4040 NE 2nd Avenue and has two running exhibits at this time. Click here for show times and schedules.
